Press and media
SwapTest helps UK learner drivers find another learner to swap driving test dates with. We're happy to help with stories about test waiting times, the 2026 booking rules, and test resale scams.
In one paragraph
SwapTest is a UK website that matches learner drivers who want to swap their practical driving test dates. A learner lists the test they already hold, and SwapTest looks for someone at the same centre, or one nearby, who wants it. If both agree, they make the swap with DVSA themselves. SwapTest never searches or touches the DVSA booking service, never holds or sells appointments, and no money changes hands between learners. It's free for learners who want a later date, with a £1 a week platform fee for those looking for an earlier one. It was started in 2026 in response to learners being charged hundreds of pounds by test resellers.
Facts you can use
- SwapTest covers all 320 DVSA car test centres in England, Scotland and Wales.
- 20 of those centres can't swap with any other centre under DVSA's location rule, so learners there can only swap with someone at their own centre. Full list on our driving test centres page.
- Since 1 October 2026, both learners must call DVSA separately on the same day to complete a swap. Our step-by-step guide explains the new process.
- SwapTest is independent and isn't affiliated with DVSA or GOV.UK.
Story angles we can help with
- How the October 2026 change to the swap process affects learners, and why so much advice online is now out of date.
- How to tell a legitimate swap from a test resale scam, and what DVSA's 2026 rules allow.
- Why some test centres have no possible swap partner at all.
