Waiting months for your test? Find someone who wants to push theirs back and swap dates. Same centre or nearby, and both sides win.
Three simple steps. You keep the test you already booked, and nothing is cancelled.
Enter your test centre, current date, and what dates you'd prefer. Takes 30 seconds.
We check the tests other learners have listed with us, at your centre and the 3 nearby centres DVSA lets you move to. We never search the DVSA booking system.
Both parties agree, get each other's details, and contact DVSA to arrange the swap together.
All 320 test centres, plus guides for Manchester, Birmingham, London and more.
Built for UK learner drivers, by people who have been there.
SwapTest is currently free while we grow. No subscriptions and no hidden charges.
Every DVSA test centre in England, Scotland, and Wales. Plus automatic matching with 3 nearby centres.
Our algorithm checks dates AND centres both ways. Every match shown is genuinely fair to both people.
Your contact details are only shared after both sides agree. Passwords are encrypted with bcrypt.
When someone wants to swap with you, you get 3 days to respond. Plenty of time to decide, no endless waiting.
Plenty of learners want to push their test back because they need more practice. Move yours to a later date and give your slot to someone who is ready. Nobody wastes a test and nobody sits one too soon.
A practical test costs £62, or £75 evenings and weekends. Resellers have been reported charging several times that for the same slot. Swapping with another learner costs you nothing extra, because you both keep the test you already paid DVSA for.
SwapTest helps UK learner drivers swap a driving test for a date that actually works for them. If you have passed your theory test and booked a practical, you may have been handed a slot months away. Cancelling and rebooking through DVSA often only offers the same far off dates. SwapTest gives you another option: swap a driving test date with someone who wants your slot and is already holding a date you would prefer. Thousands of learners every month look for a way to swap a driving test sooner, and SwapTest brings them together in one place.
The idea is simple. You tell us your current DVSA test centre, your booked date, and whether you want an earlier or a later one. We then look through the tests other learners have already listed on SwapTest, at your centre and the three nearby centres DVSA lets you move to, for somebody who wants to go the other way. To be clear, we are reading our own list of listed tests. We have no connection to the DVSA booking system and never search it. When a fair match is found, both people agree, swap contact details, and contact DVSA to arrange the change. There is no need to cancel your test first, and no need to refresh the booking site for hours hoping for a cancellation.
Waiting lists for a practical driving test in the UK can stretch for months, and a long wait often means lost confidence, extra lessons, and missed opportunities such as a new job or a university place. Being able to swap a driving test date with someone lets you bring your test forward without paying for cancellation checker apps. It also helps the other learner, who may genuinely want a later date, so every swap is designed to be fair to both sides. It is currently free to list your test, and youstay in full control of which match you accept.
SwapTest is independent and is not affiliated with DVSA or GOV.UK, but it is built around the way DVSA actually works. DVSA lets you move your test to your own centre or a nearby one, so our algorithm only proposes a swap when both candidates can realistically take each other's slot. That means when you use SwapTest to do a DVSA swap of a driving test with someone, every match you see is one that can genuinely go ahead.
SwapTest covers more than 320 DVSA test centres across England, Scotland and Wales, so wherever you are booked there is a strong chance of finding a match close by. Whether you need an earlier date because you feel ready now, or a later date because you want more practice, you can list either way and let SwapTest find the right person to swap with. The more learners who list their dates, the faster you can swap a driving test date that suits you.
Your contact details stay private until both people agree to swap, and your password is encrypted, so your data is protected at every step. SwapTest is currently free to use, with nosubscriptions and no hidden charges. You can list, edit or delete your test at any time from your dashboard, and you are notified by email the moment someone wants your date.
If you have been searching for how to swap a driving test date with someone, SwapTest is the quickest place to start. List your test in around 30 seconds, let the system find your match, agree the swap, and contact DVSA to lock it in. It really is that simple to swap a driving test date in the UK and take control of when you sit your practical test.
Driving test appointments are not something to be bought and sold, and DVSA is clear about it. Reselling test appointments breaks DVSA's rules and can be reported, and DVSA states that it is against the law for anyone other than the learner driver to book a car driving test. DVSA works with app stores, hosting providers and the police where it finds criminal activity.
DVSA asks people to report anyone who resells test appointments, searches the booking service using bots, books car tests on behalf of other people, or uses someone else's details to book a test. SwapTest does none of those things.
We never hold, buy or sell test appointments, and no money changes hands between learners. We do not touch the DVSA booking service at all, so there are no bots and no bulk bookings. You keep the booking you made yourself. When two of you agree to change places, you each ring DVSA and change your own test, which is the process DVSA already offers for free.
This matters because learners have been badly stung. A practical test costs £62, or £75 evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Sites that hoard slots with bots have been reported charging several times that for the very same appointment, and DVSA has been shutting them down. Swapping with another learner costs you nothing on top of the fee you have already paid, because neither of you is buying anything. You are just changing places.
The only money you should ever pay for a practical test is the official DVSA fee. If a website asks for more than that to secure you a test, you can report it to DVSA.
To swap a driving test date with someone, list your current DVSA test date and the dates you would prefer on SwapTest. We match you with another learner who wants your date and is holding a date that suits you. Once you both agree, you exchange contact details and contact DVSA to arrange the swap. It is the simplest way to swap a driving test date with someone at the same or a nearby test centre.
You swap a driving test date in four steps. First, add your test centre, your current test date, and whether you want an earlier or later date. Second, SwapTest looks through the tests other learners have already listed on our own site, at your centre and the three nearby centres DVSA lets you move to. We do not search the DVSA booking system. Third, both people agree to the swap. Fourth, you contact DVSA to arrange swapping your dates. You do not need to cancel your test first.
Yes. You can swap driving test dates with someone who wants your slot and holds a date that suits you. Both candidates must agree, and you then contact DVSA to arrange the change. SwapTest makes it easy to find that person, so you can swap a driving test in the UK without waiting months for a new date.
DVSA lets you change or swap your practical driving test date up to two times. After that, you would normally need to book a new test. SwapTest helps you find a match within those limits, so make sure you are happy with a date before you swap. Always check the latest rules on GOV.UK.
Yes. DVSA allows you to move your test to one of 3 nearby centres. SwapTest automatically checks all nearby centres when finding matches. Both people must be able to move to each other's centre for a swap to be valid.
SwapTest is currently free to use — there is no charge to register, list your test, view matches, or complete a swap. We may introduce a small fee in the future to cover our infrastructure cost, but there are no hidden charges.
SwapTest is not a driving test reseller. DVSA asks people to report anyone who resells test appointments, uses bots to search the booking service, or books car tests on behalf of other people, and DVSA states that it is against the law for anyone other than the learner driver to book a car driving test. SwapTest does none of these things. We never hold, buy or sell appointments, no money changes hands between learners, and we do not touch the DVSA booking service. You keep the booking you made yourself, and when two of you agree to change places you each ring DVSA and change your own test.
Your password is encrypted using bcrypt hashing and can never be seen by anyone, including us. Your contact details (email and phone) are only shared with your swap partner after both of you agree to swap. We never sell or share your data with third parties.
When you select a match, the other person has 3 days to agree. If they don't respond, the match expires automatically and your listing goes back into the pool. No harm done.
Yes. You can edit or delete your listing at any time from your dashboard, as long as it doesn't have an active match pending.
It takes 30 seconds to list your test. You could have a new date by the end of the day.
