To swap a driving test date with someone, list your current DVSA test date and the dates you would prefer on SwapTest. We match you with another learner who wants your date and is holding a date that suits you. Once you both agree, you exchange contact details and contact DVSA to arrange the swap. It is the simplest way to swap a driving test date with someone at the same or a nearby test centre.

How do you swap a driving test date?

You swap a driving test date in four steps. First, add your test centre, your current test date, and whether you want an earlier or later date. Second, SwapTest looks through the tests other learners have already listed on our own site, at your centre and the three nearby centres DVSA lets you move to. We do not search the DVSA booking system. Third, both people agree to the swap. Fourth, you contact DVSA to arrange swapping your dates. You do not need to cancel your test first.

Can you swap driving test dates with someone?

Yes. You can swap driving test dates with someone who wants your slot and holds a date that suits you. Both candidates must agree, and you then contact DVSA to arrange the change. SwapTest makes it easy to find that person, so you can swap a driving test in the UK without waiting months for a new date.

How many times can you swap a driving test?

DVSA lets you change or swap your practical driving test date up to two times. After that, you would normally need to book a new test. SwapTest helps you find a match within those limits, so make sure you are happy with a date before you swap. Always check the latest rules on GOV.UK.

Can I swap to a different test centre?

Yes. DVSA allows you to move your test to one of 3 nearby centres. SwapTest automatically checks all nearby centres when finding matches. Both people must be able to move to each other's centre for a swap to be valid.

How much does SwapTest cost?

SwapTest is currently free to use — there is no charge to register, list your test, view matches, or complete a swap. We may introduce a small fee in the future to cover our infrastructure cost, but there are no hidden charges.

Is SwapTest a driving test reseller?

SwapTest is not a driving test reseller. DVSA asks people to report anyone who resells test appointments, uses bots to search the booking service, or books car tests on behalf of other people, and DVSA states that it is against the law for anyone other than the learner driver to book a car driving test. SwapTest does none of these things. We never hold, buy or sell appointments, no money changes hands between learners, and we do not touch the DVSA booking service. You keep the booking you made yourself, and when two of you agree to change places you each ring DVSA and change your own test.

Is my personal information safe?

Your password is encrypted using bcrypt hashing and can never be seen by anyone, including us. Your contact details (email and phone) are only shared with your swap partner after both of you agree to swap. We never sell or share your data with third parties.

What happens if the other person doesn't respond?

When you select a match, the other person has 24 hours to agree. If they don't respond, the match expires automatically and your listing goes back into the pool. No harm done.

Can I cancel or edit my listing?

Yes. You can edit or delete your listing at any time from your dashboard, as long as it doesn't have an active match pending.

All 320 DVSA test centres in England, Scotland and Wales, and for each one the centres it can genuinely swap with.

DVSA publishes the centres you are allowed to move your test to. That is not the same list as the centres you can swap with, because a swap needs the permission to run in both directions. Plenty of pairs work one way only, and those are no use to anybody. Everything below is the mutual version.
